In June this year, the AAPT launched a new CPD platform with CPDMe. We hope members are enjoying using the platform that provides the functionality to record and reflect upon activities, access exclusive CPDMe webinars and also to produce a professional portfolio with just a few clicks of your mouse button!
The platform aligns well to those who hold and maintain the Science Council awards; Chartered Scientist, Registered Scientist and Registered Science Technician and for those who are registered with the Academy for Healthcare Science.
The AAPT will 'turn-off' the older CPD platform on the 31st of December 2024 and we cannot transfer your records to CPDMe. It is suggested therefore, to download any relevant and up to date CPD from the old platform and re-enter onto CPDMe.
Today, AAPT has also updated the AAPT CPD Policy and Commitment to include a target for members to achieve 20 hours of CPD per year. There are no sanctions if you do not meet this target, but the AAPT believe 20 hours a year is achievable through both AAPT-provided CPD and CPD that is undertaken in the workplace & beyond.
The AAPT CPD lead, Tarot Noble-Harris, will publish a blog in December that will expand on the many types of CPD available to APTs; both during a working day and via the AAPT.
If apprenticeship then the hours will be on the log sheet.
If non- apprenticeship then it is not quantified in the same way - try and aim for approx one entry a week / 2 weeks - a little more or less will be fine but try and not leave big gaps in your cpd logs - you will need to give specific example’s in your log so try and put a some detail of the activity - and they may wish to see copy of your cpd log when applying for professional registration. You may need to refer to your cpd when thinking of specific examples for you registration competencies.
Hopefully Jessica Arnold can talk more about the registration process if she sees this post.

Your CPD must include a mixture of different types of learning. This means that you need to undertake different types of learning activity - examples of what you can use as cpd is on your log sheet. Remember to put dates on your log sheet.
Yes I’d say a minimum of once a month. Don’t forget you can use lots of things! If you read an article on the HTA website about a change… do a write up on how you will comply in your mortuary. If you attend any training, do a reflective write up. If you see something in post mortem you’ve not seen before write it up! Hope that helps
AAPT CPD update
Not sure if you have saw this today?!

Thanks!Using the CPD and Me app is great so that helps and add them to the log sheet!
Sorry yes non apprentiship route. I heard it was meant to be 100 hours a year and was not sure how true that was!
Many thanks to both for the tips!
