RSPH Diploma Course

 in Anatomical Pathology Technology

Application for the end point assessment (EPA) of the RSPH Level 3 and 4 Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology. 

 

 

Please read the following carefully:

 

1. The mortuary manager or mentor is responsible for requesting the external assessment only when they deem the candidate (and their portfolio of evidence) ready for assessment.  

 

2. Mentors / line managers are to complete the online form below in full and submit to the North Tees centre. 

3. To be eligible for end point assessment (EPA), the candidate must also satisfy the following criteria:

  • Applications should not be made until all sections of the portfolio are completed - click here for portfolio criteria.

  • All theory units (including exams and assignments) of the Diploma must be completed and passed by the North Tees Centre.

 

4. Allocation of an external assessor will be made as soon as possible after the final application dates, however due to their availability this may take up to 4 weeks. 

Attention! If a candidate is not assessed during an specific assessment period that was applied for, whatever the reason, then mentors must apply again for the next assessment period for their candidate.

Has all portfolio evidence work been indexed on the CAS forms for each unit?
Has the RSPH candidate evidence portfolio front sheet completed?

I can confirm that the candidate has followed an RSPH approved training programme and has completed the Level 3 / 4 portfolio in accordance with RSPH guidelines (see evidence criteria) and that ALL candidate evidence pieces have been checked, dated and signed prior to the date of this application.

What happens when my application for assessment has been received? 
 
Level 3 Diploma
Your details will be logged by the North Tees Centre and your request will also be sent to the lead APT assessor. Once the application window has closed, all candidates ready for assessment will be then be distributed between available assessors (dependant on numbers available and geographical locations) - this distribution process usually takes approx. 4 weeks:
 
  • For the 1st assessment period, applications must be received no later than end February

    • Approx. 4 weeks to allocate assessors (March)

    • Assessment period 1 commences April to May

    • Assessor reports returned to the Centre by end of June

    • Internal verification by mid July

    • External verification completed before end of July

    • Final results from RSPH in August 

    • Certificates issued in September (back dated to external verification date)

  • For the 2nd assessment period, applications must be received no later than end of August 

    • Approx. 4 weeks to allocate assessors (September)

    • Assessment period 2 commences October to November

    • Assessor reports returned to the Centre by end of December

    • Internal verification by mid January 

    • External verification completed before end of January

    • Final results from RSPH in February

    • Certificates issued in March (back dated to external verification date)

 
Once your assessor has been allocated your work based mentor will be contacted with details of your assessor - communication will then take place between the candidates mortuary department and the assessor to arrange a suitable date for assessment. Your assessor will review your e-portfolio and may also ask to see additional documentation (e.g. SOPs) prior to the visit. 
 
 
Level 4 Diploma

Your details will be logged by the North Tees Centre and your request will also be sent to the lead APT assessor. Once the application window has closed, all candidates ready for their portfolio virtual assessment will be scheduled (usually approx. 4 weeks after application window has closed) for external review by a panel of assessors.

 

There will be no external assessor visit to the candidates work-placed mortuary, however assessor (s) may wish to ask the candidate further questions should they have any queries about the portfolio.

 

Assessor reports will be retuned to the the North Tees Centre within 6 weeks of the external virtual assessment, then subsequently an external verification completed approx. a month later after all assessor reports are in. Certificates issued will be back dated to the external verification date.
