Hi all, Just to confirm that all your level 4 exams start at 2pm at your chosen exam venue - I have updated the online timetable to reflect this, Could I please remind all candidates to turn up approx. 30 minutes before the start time of your Common human pathology exam this Thursday (so please turn up to your chosen exam venue location at approx. 1:30 pm, ready to sit the exam at 2pm promptly!) Please also remember your RSPH candidate number and also bring some form of ID with you (e.g. driving license, passport, trust ID card etc.). Good luck everyone! Kind regards, Darren

Hi again, I can only assume that someone asked the HTA during last weeks session about an example viewing form. Please see form below: The form is fairly basic and was designed to be used in the following way: • The family complete the form on arrival to the mortuary for a viewing. • The details are then checked against the ID Bands on the body and details given at the time of the viewing booking, immediately prior to the family being escorted into the viewing room to see their loved one. • Other additions to the form could include an area for the APT undertaking the final ID check to sign. • If ID bands do not have an address on them, a date of death could be used- it is vital 3 forms of ID provided by the family can be checked against information held on the body. Most family members will not know the hospital number or NHS number of their loved one. Kind regards, Darren

Hi all, Just to remind you that I would base your exam revision around Dr Watson's presentations and the online quiz in unit 4.1 (including the feedback to any quiz questions). There is no printed revision guides for the level 4 diploma (only the quiz) and as mentioned previously (as you are no longer trainee APT’s) we will be also testing you on some of your wider experience and knowledge. The exam will be split into 2 sections: Section 1: Extended matching item questions on external examination, internal examination and laboratory testing (whereby you choose the most appropriate word from a list provided to you as your answer). Each question is worth 1 mark. Section 2: Short answer written questions on anything in the syllabus. Each question is worth either five or six marks. Kind regards, Darren

Hi all,   We have now managed to register you all with the RSPH for the level 4 diploma – please check the results sheet in your cohort password protected area. You will now need your RSPH candidate number for the exam in April  - this must put this number (and nothing else) on the front of your exam paper when you sit it.   Kind regards,   Darren

Hi all,   For those of you who submitted your assignments by the submission date, your results for unit 4.5  are now available in or cohort’s password protected area.   Although you have may have met the course learning outcomes for this unit, after having reviewed your assignments, I would like to make the general points in preparation of your portfolios. So for the objective evidence types (the types we asked you to submit for this assignment): • Please ensure you describe what you are evidencing  - a simple short descriptive sentence will not suffice for your EPA portfolio. • I recommend around 2 – 3 sides for objective types of evidence – if you have included a picture then please annotate and maybe further describe the annotation beneath the image. We want to see descriptions and understanding in your portfolio work.   • As a general rule of thumb,  If you have included an image that takes up half the page then 1 side will probably not be long enough (once you have factored in heading and signature block).   • Always, always refer back to the learning outcome you are trying to evidence against. So for example I have chosen a random set of learning outcomes for unit 4.6 (Supervision of Mortuary Functions)   5 Understand why the mortuary should be managed 5.1 State why data relevant to the work of the mortuary needs to be managed. 5.2 Outline requirements for resource management within the mortuary. 5.3 Outline requirements for record keeping in the mortuary. 5.4 State why the standard of mortuary services needs to be maintained or improved.   So if you are wanting to index a particular piece of evidence against, say the red learning outcomes above, then look at your evidence piece and incorporate some elements that the assessor can clearly link to these learning outcomes. So I would put the following terms / sentences put into my work (but use your own words and examples):   … this ensures that the ….. standards within our mortuary are ……. ….. records ensures efficient management of ……..   Otherwise the assessor may be asking, even though this is a great piece of evidence,  what has this got to do with that learning outcome. Remember! The external assessor will be looking at the learning outcomes on the CAS form and then against the evidence piece (s) you have indexed.   Hope this gives helps,   Kind regards,   Darren

Hi all again, We have now registered you all with the RSPH - go to your cohorts password protected area and then click on the 'Track progress' icon to access your RSPH candidate number. Please make a note of this number and have it available for when you sit your exam as this is the only information that can go on the front of the exam paper. For assignments then please ensure that you have put both your name and candidate number on the front page before submitting Kind regards, Darren

Good afternoon all, Just covering some of the issues raised this morning: H&S exam revision links: These have now been updated (you may need to refresh this page) - please let me know if any of them are still not working. Your preferred exam venue: I have updated the candidates preferred exam list - if you have not already done so, then please tell us your preferred local exam venue using the link below: Exam Venue | APT (t(https://www.trainingapt.com/copy-of-exam-venue)rainingapt.com)(http://trainingapt.com)(https://www.trainingapt.com/copy-of-exam-venue) It usually takes us about a week to update the list - go to your cohorts password protected area and then click on the 'Track progress' icon (shown below) to access the latest candidates preferred exam list. This mornings revision session: This recorded revision session (H&S) is now available in your password protected area (under zoom videos). Finally, I will update the exam venue travel details as and when they are updated, hopefully all within the next couple of weeks - although actual venue locations will not change, please check specific details (e.g. room location / number) before you travel. Kind regards, Darren

Hi all again, In preparation for our 1st teaching session this Friday could I ask that you print a copy of the training logs below: • Apprenticeship training log(https://www.trainingapt.com/_files/ugd/63aaff_3e95ca6449cb41c3b751a6400517a50c.docx?dn=RSPH%20Level%203%20Apprentice%20training%20log.docx) • Level 3 CPD training Log(https://www.trainingapt.com/_files/ugd/63aaff_1fe7917bec084526aac024f6d5c408db.docx?dn=RSPH%20Level%203%20CPD%20training%20log.docx) You will only need to complete one of these log templates, so; • Apprenticeship funded candidates - please print the apprenticeship training log template already sent to you. • All other trust funded candidates - please print the CPD log template by using the link above.   The principle behind both templates is the same: i.e. recording CPD/training activities as you progress throughout the course with us. These logs will become important for your end point assessments and access to professional registration when you have passed the course. • Apprenticeship training log entries should be linked to the apprenticeship standards. • CPD training log entries by the candidate should be linked to the course learning outcomes. I will explain more when we meet online on how to complete the logs – but I would like all candidates to be proactive when completing these and to show these to your mentor during any local progress meetings. All apprenticeship candidates should know who you are by now – and if we could meet 30 minutes before the formal teaching session starts (I.e. at 09:30hrs). All other candidates join at 10:00hrs.   Kind regards, Darren

Hi all,   May I take this opportunity to introduce myself – my name is Darren Makin and I will be assisting you as you progress through your level 3 diploma. I will also be delivering some of your theory online lessons as well as signposting you to useful information that will assist with your learning and guidance to building the work-based portfolio of evidence – more will become clear when we meet online over the next months.   I look forward to ‘seeing you’ online (via zoom)  the 26th January. Your zoom and cohort password should have already been sent to you (zoom meeting room ID can also be found in your cohort’s password protected area for cohort 11).   Kind regards,   Darren
